Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2026

This March, Lumibility is proud to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM)!

The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities is hosting this year’s campaign as “We’re Here: Then, Now, Always campaign.” It recognizes a simple truth: people with developmental disabilities have always been part of our communities and always will be. This campaign builds on last year’s successful We’re Here All Year initiative and expands the message by connecting past, present, and future.

When was Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month Established?

Established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month highlights the importance of fostering a society that empowers people with disabilities. They should be able to contribute to their communities. While March provides an opportunity for heightened awareness, true awareness happens when we commit to creating accessible environments. We must also create productive opportunities year-round.

At Lumibility, we are committed to promoting inclusion, advocacy, and empowerment every day. Join us in celebrating DDAM and working toward a more accessible and inclusive future for all. Learn how to get involved and support Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and the “We’re Here: Then, Now, Always” campaign.
