Larry celebrates 20 years at Big Y!

Larry began his journey at Big Y World Class Market in 2005 as part of a job crew. He learned the essential skills as a service clerk, which include bagging groceries and collecting carts.

In 2020, he was hired as an independent employee. He began working with a Lumibility Employment specialist who provided weekly check-ins and continued to help him develop customer service skills. While working independently, he strives to remember customers’ names, birthdays, and their preferences for how they like their groceries packed. Larry brings a personal touch to everything he does.

When Lumbility staff visited Larry at work, his managers have praised him for his work ethic. They also noted his attention to detail when bagging customers’ groceries.

What is our Individualized Supported Employment (ISE) Program?

Individualized Supported Employment (ISE) services are programs designed for individuals who are ready to secure and maintain competitive employment. Once an individual secures meaningful employment, they will transition to receiving “on-the-job support” from an Employment Specialist. As their confidence grows and they become more proficient in the new job, their on-the-job support will be adjusted to reflect your increasing independence in the role.
