Lera’s Weekly Visits Make a Lasting Impact at Ronald McDonald House!

Every Thursday, Lera volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in New Haven. This is a place that offers accommodation to individuals with chronic medical conditions. These individuals cannot afford hospital stays. She receives support through Lumibility’s Individualized Supported Employment (ISE) Program.
Here’s a look at what Lera has contributed as a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House!
At RMH, Lera helps by vacuuming the hallway carpets and wiping down furniture in the cafeteria. She often brings doughnuts for the staff and residents as a kind gesture. On several occasions, Lera has created encouragement cards for the residents. She also made a hat for Jackson, the therapy dog who visits RMH. The staff, residents, and Jackson all warmly welcome Lera whenever she visits.
Lera told her staff that she loves volunteering at the RMH. She enjoys it because she can show her support for people facing challenges.
We’d also like to recognize Employment Program Coordinator Bridget Agbeti for her continued support. Her efforts help Lera thrive in her volunteer role.

Individualized Supported Employment (ISE) services are programs designed for individuals who are ready to secure and maintain competitive employment.
Once an individual secures meaningful employment, they will transition to receiving “on-the-job support” from an Employment Specialist. As your confidence increases and you master the new job, your on-the-job supports will be adjusted. These adjustments reflect your independence in the role.
