Lumibility Takes Part in ANCOR Policy Summit & Hill Day 2026
This year, Lumibility staff from across the organization, including Adult Services, Kidsteps, and administrative departments, had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet with Connecticut’s federal lawmakers and advocate for the more than 2,200 children, adults, and families we support each year.
Hosted by ANCOR, the Policy Summit, held from September 15th-16th, brings together agencies and advocates from across the country with a shared purpose: to protect and strengthen Medicaid funding, and protect and strengthen funding that will benefit infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and the families who rely on Birth to Three services.
Voices from our team:
Julie Hall, Deputy Program Officer, Children and Family Services, shared,
“For the first time, Kidsteps staff joined advocates from across the country in Washington, D.C., for the 2026 ANCOR Policy Summit & Hill Day. The experience provided an important opportunity to learn more about the federal policy issues affecting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those receiving early intervention services. During Hill Day, we met with members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation and/or their staff to discuss how federal Medicaid policy and funding decisions can affect infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and the families who rely on Birth to Three services and supports. We shared how changes at the federal level can have a local impact on access to early intervention, the provider workforce, and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality services during a critical period of child development.
We were grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside other advocates, share the experiences of the children and families Kidsteps supports, and help ensure their needs remain part of the conversation as policymakers consider decisions affecting Medicaid and other programs that impact children and families.”
In summary, George Reid-Perry, Lumibility’s Chief Operating Officer, shared,
“Representing Lumibility and the State of Connecticut at the ANCOR Policy Summit & Hill Day was an important opportunity to advocate for the future of disability services. The event brought together providers and advocates from across the nation to meet directly with federal lawmakers and discuss critical issues affecting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and those with developmental delays. By sharing our experiences and the realities facing services in Connecticut, we help ensure that policymakers understand the impact of their decisions on the individuals, families, and communities we serve. Advocacy at this level is essential because if providers are not part of the conversation, we cannot help shape the policies that affect the future of our field.”
Moving Forward
Lumibility’s participation in the ANCOR Policy Summit & Hill Day underscores our commitment to protecting and strengthening the services that make independence, inclusion, and opportunity possible for all individuals with differing abilities. We will continue to advocate for everyone to live full and meaningful lives.
