Mekhial Thrives From The Support of Kidsteps Early Intervention!

Mekhial, who lives with his dad, brother, and grandmother, has been part of the Kidsteps Birth to Three family for nearly three years. Born at just 22 weeks and weighing only 1 pound, 1 ounce, he spent six months at the NICU at Yale New Haven Hospital. Throughout that time, his father visited him daily, alongside Yale’s dedicated team and the support of his extended family. They worked hard to understand and meet Mekhial’s unique developmental needs.
Kidsteps, Lumbility’s Birth to Three Early Intervention Program, began supporting the family shortly after, providing early intervention services at home while attending KinderCare. With consistent support and care, Mekhial met major milestones. Including taking his first steps around age two. Today, his balance, strength, and coordination have greatly improved.
Mekhial is thriving, not only physically but socially as well. He’s known for his outgoing personality. Everywhere he goes, he always stops to greet everyone.
