Lumibility Welcomes Representative Rosa DeLauro for Medicaid Briefing
On October 6th, Lumibility had the honor of welcoming Representative Rosa DeLauro, Sheldon Toubman, Litigation Attorney for Disability Rights, Becca Dunn, Lumibility Board President, Kidsteps Birth to Three Early Intervention Program families, individuals from our programs, and other special guests to our North Haven location. The visit provided a significant opportunity to discuss the very real effects that proposed Medicaid cuts would have on the individuals and families who rely on Lumibility’s services every day.
During the briefing, individuals shared personal experiences and firsthand perspectives that illustrated the critical role Medicaid plays in sustaining programs like Lumibility’s Adult Services and Kidsteps Birth to Three Early Intervention Program. Representative DeLauro listened attentively as individuals described the challenges created by underfunding and the potential consequences of reducing vital resources. The discussions underscored the collective commitment to ensuring that individuals with differing abilities continue to receive the high-quality support they deserve.
Following the conversation, guests enjoyed a tour of our North Haven location to see our program in action and meet some of the incredible staff and individuals who make Lumibility’s mission come to life each day. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, shared their insights, and helped amplify the importance of advocacy in protecting the services our communities depend on.
